Making an existing process reliable in the food ingredients industry
POMEX’s work at a food ingredients production site.
A process can run for years without ever being truly industrialised.
Our client wanted to regain control of a line that had been running for more than ten years.

01. Context and challenges
The site faced several weaknesses:
- a process with no formal production or cleaning standard;
- an industrialisation that had never been completed;
- handling of powders and flammable products, with ATEX issues;
- a technical department with no shared tool to track its projects and priorities.
02. Our approach
A POMEX project engineer joined the site’s technical team:
- review of the process and identification of needs with production, quality and maintenance;
- a monthly project review, where each engineer presents progress and a three-month schedule;
- clarification of roles and responsibilities within the team;
- definition of cleaning parameters based on Sinner’s circle, with particular attention to dead legs;
- control of ATEX risks linked to powders.
03. Results
The approach delivered:
- a shared view of the process needs and priorities;
- project tracking visible to the whole department;
- defined cleaning standards for the line;
- ATEX risks identified and built into the project.

Conclusion
Industrialising an existing process starts with understanding how it really works, then giving it a framework: standards, follow-up and clear responsibilities.
